Game 1... Pioneers 27... Garden City 26
If you are a softball fan that likes hits, runs, and errors then Monday's 1st game of the doubleheader was the game for you. MCC scored in all 8 innings and Autumn Porter (Miles City, MT) hit a 3-run homer in the top of the 8th inning that proved to be the game winning runs as the Pioneers eeked out a wild 27-26 win at Garden City CC. The Pioneers had 27 hits including 6 home runs. Olivia Cook (Belgrade, MT) continued her hot bat as she hit 3 home runs and had 8 RBI's after hitting 2 in game 1 yesterday. Taylor Woolley (Rathdrum, ID) and Lilinoe Nihi (Moanalua, Hawaii) also went deep. Nihi had 4 RBI's in the game. Cook also hit a triple as did Janie Nelson (Teton Valley, ID) and Tessa Della Silva (Hamilton, MT). Porter (5 RBI's) and Woolley (3 RBI) also hit doubles along with Abby Johnson (Hamilton, MT) and Megan Toplovich (Great Falls, MT).
Pioneer pitchers Kelealani Waiau (Puget Sound, WA), Hazel Eaton (Belgrade, MT), and Kassidy Kinzie (Plains, MT) gave up 26 runs on 24 hits while walking 7 batters. Garden City scored 11 runs in the 2nd inning and 6th in the 7th to keep the high scoring game going.
Game 2... Pioneers 4... Garden City 13
The 2nd game took a turn for the worse as the Pioneer bats cooled off with only 5 hits. Olivia Cook pounded a 3-run home run to give her 4 homers on the day and Tessa Della Silva had an RBI double to account for the Pioneers scoring. Abby Johnson was 2-3 on the day. Kelealani Waiau gave up 7 runs on 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out 1. Reagan Harper (Billings, MT) pitched the final 3 innings giving up 3 runs on 2 hits while walking 4 Broncbusters.
The Pioneers travel to Lamar for a doubleheader against Region IX Lamar on Wednesday. Game times are 1:00 & 3:00 PM.
