Game 1
The MCC Pioneer Softball team hit the road to Washington for a spring break trip in the Apple State. The Pioneers opened things up with a 13-8 loss in game 1. Columbia Basin pushed thru 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th in what proved to be the difference. Third Baseman Sanoe Samante (Ewa Beach, Hawaii) went 3-3 with 4 RBI and CF Taylor Woolley (Post Falls, ID) was 2-4 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored to lead the Pioneer efforts.
Kyla Johnson (Hamer, ID) was saddled with the loss as she game up 7 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in 2.2 innings of relief. Kassidy Kinzie (Plains, MT) started and gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 3.1 innings of work.
Game 2
Megan Krantz (Cheney, WA) went 3-3 and scored 2 runs while Janie Nelson cracked a home run and had 4 RBI as the MCC Pioneers salvaged a split on the afternoon in Pasco and won game 2 14-7 over Columbia Basin. After Columbia Basin cut the score to 7-6 after the 5th inning, the Pioneers racked up 7 runs in the top of the 6th to run away with game 2.
Regan Harper (Billings, MT), Taylor Woolley, and Kassidy Kinzie all had multiple hits for the Pioneers. Harper picked up the win pitching a complete game giving up 7 runs on 10 hits and 3 strikeouts.
