The MCC Pioneer Rodeo Team took to the road last weekend for the final rodeo of the 2024-25 season. The Pioneers travelled to Missoula for the University of Montana Rodeo on Friday and Saturday.
Rope Roghair (Isabel, South Dakota) had another strong weekend in Saddle Bronc Riding and solidified his spot on top of the standings for the season with 1,020 points. In winning the Northwest Region Saddle Bronc title, Roghair will represent Miles CC in the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming from June 15-21.
Roghair tied for 1st in the long go with a score of 76 and followed that with a 3rd place finish in the short go with 61 points. His 137 got him 2nd place for the rodeo behind Monte Bailey (Montana State). Roghair teamed up Travis Storm (Meadow, SD) to place 6th in the long go for team roping.
Taylor Burgee (Onida, SD) finished in 4th place in the short go for Breakaway Roping with a time of 7.4 seconds and also placed 4th in the average with a time of 10.8 seconds.
Both Pioneer men's and women's teams finished in 5th place for the event. The men's team scored 185 points and the women's team scored 60 points.
Pioneer alum Cole Trexler (UM-Western) finished as the Big Sky Region Champion header in team roping and alum Tycie Phalen (Dickinson State) was the Great Plains Region reserve Barrel Racing champion.
