Pioneer Rodeo Teams Successful at Home Events

MCC Rodeo #1 - April 20-21

The MCC Pioneer men's rodeo team finished in 4th place with 410 points in rodeo #1 at the MCC Ag Advancement Center on April 20-21. Northwest College outdistanced the other teams in a tightly contested rodeo with 550 points. Montana State University was 2nd with 500 and MSU-Northern was 3rd with 430 points. The Pioneer women's rodeo team also finished in 4th place with 82.5 points in a rodeo that was easily won by the Montana State University women with 517.5 points. 

Daylon Danks (Mandaree, ND) was the champion in tie-down roping for rodeo #1 with a total time of 18.5 seconds. Teammate Blayne Hubing (Circle, MT) finished the same event in the 5th place position. Hubing also finished in 8th place in team roping with Cody Acord (Gillette, WY) Those finishes propelled Hubing to 5th in the men's all-around standings as well with 80 points. Owen Carlson (Pine River, MN) finished in 2nd place in bull riding as only 2 cowboys scored in that event. 

On the women's side, Mary Gibson (Havre, MT) finished in 4th place in the women's all-around standings and accounted for all of MCC's scoring with 82.5 points. Gibson finished 5th place in breakaway roping and then finished 7th place in goat tying. 

MCC Rodeo #2 - April 22-23

The MCC women's rodeo team had it's best showing of the 2022-23 season on Saturday and Sunday in rodeo #2. MCC finished in 2nd place behind Montana State University. The Pioneers scored 155 points over the weekend and MSU had 430. Highlighting the efforts for the Pioneer women's team was a 2nd place finish in breakaway roping from Mary Gibson with a time of 6.2 seconds. Cierra Vons Cooper (Reno, NV) supplied a 6th place finish in goat tying with a total time of 15 seconds. 

The Pioneer men's team found the sledding to be a little bit tougher on the weekend. MCC finished in 6th place with 95 points. Cole Trexler (Corvallis, MT) finished in 9th place for tie-down roping with a time of 28.4 seconds. Cameron Handy (Recluse, WY) teamed up with Hayden Taylor (Montana State University) for 3rd place in team roping catching in only round 1 with a time of 6.4 seconds. 

The Pioneers will finish the spring season with a trip to Missoula for the University of Montana rodeo on Friday and Saturday.
