(Miles City, MT) The Miles Community College Women's Basketball team has announced that Binta Salawu will be joining the Pioneers for the 2019-2020 season.
Salawu is a 5'5" point guard from Sydney, Australia. She attended and played high school basketball at Westfields Sports High School in Sydney, Australia.
Binta was part of the District and NSW Championship team for 5 consecutive years and also a member of the national team for 3 consecutive years in the championship division.
Binta is the daughter of Melissa Grimes of Manly, New South Wales, Australia. While at MCC, she is planning to work towards her ultimate goal of a degree in Communications.
Salawu on attending MCC: "I chose Miles because of the supportive and positive recruitment process with Coach Harris."
Coach Harris on Salawu: "Binta comes to us from Sydney, Australia by way of Iowa Western, and helps solidify the experience on this roster. Last year Binta was well coached and a part of a great culture that won a regional championship and played against some of the best competition in the country. Her experience and leadership will be counted on right away! On the court Binta will strengthen our back court offensively with her ability to play in transition & her decision making, but what we love most about Binta is her excitement to play tenacious defense. Binta is the ultimate teammate - in every conversation we've had it has always been team first, and always wanting to know how she can best help the team. This community will fall in love with Binta's charismatic personality and how hard she plays on the basketball court!"
