(Miles City, MT) The Miles Community College Baseball team has announced that Ryota Kusumoto will be joining the Pioneers for the 2019-2020 season.
Kusumoto is an infielder from Cairns, Queensland, Australia. He played his high school baseball at Cairns State High School in Australia.
Ryota was selected for Queensland U18 in 2017 and 2018. His Batting average during the 2018 season was .451 and his ERA was 2.01. He was a member of the Queens Bandits 2nd place team in the 2018 national tournament.
Ryota is the son of Mayumi Kusumoto and Fukuyama & Hiroshi Kusumoto of Ooita. Kusumoto plans to work on his generals while at MCC.
Kusumoto on attending MCC: "I chose Miles Community College as I've had several mates go there and improve drastically and say how great the facility and the overall vibe to the place is. It was the perfect place to get a start on the baseball life in America as an Australian and hopefully, after my first two years at MCC, I will transfer and be able to finish off my 3rd and 4th years while still playing competitive baseball."
Coach Brabant on Kusumoto: "Ryota is a versatile sign for us. He is very polished and can play anywhere in the infield. His foot speed will also be a special tool that we will be able to use in a lot of ways. Ryota has played for great teams against great competition, which makes him prepared for the next level of play. We are excited to see what kind of player Ryota will turn into while coming over and training with us. We feel that he will play a big role for us when it is all said and done."
